Brief History of Agie Charmilles

1861

The industrial firm of Staib & Cie is established in Geneva, Switzerland.

1908

Mikron established in Biel, Switzerland with the formation of the "Maschinenfabrik Mikron."

1921

The company of Staib & Cie adopts the name of Ateliers des Charmilles and becomes internationally recognized.

1954

Agie established in Basel, Switzerland.

Charmilles establishes in Jamaica, New York.

1983

Georg Fischer Corporation takes over Charmilles Technologies SA.

1996

Georg Fischer acquires a majority shareholding in Agie Holding Ltd. The two market leaders Charmilles and Agie merge to become the Agie Charmilles Group.

2000

Agie Charmilles acquires Mikron machining business and becomes number two in high-speed machining (HSM) worldwide.

2006

Agie Charmilles merges service and sales departments of Agie, Charmilles and Mikron

2007

Launch of GF Agie Charmilles, a group of Georg Fischer Corporation in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
