One Brand. One Promise. Achieve More...
Over the last ten years, we have sold our products using the traditional, well-established Agie, Charmilles and Mikron brands, but now, the business environment has changed: The globalization of mold and tool making involves us and our customers in hard-fought, worldwide competition. Now is the perfect time to make the best use of the combination of three previously independent brands, Agie, Charmilles and Mikron. Thanks to this merger, we will be able to offer our customers the best of everything, instead of standard products in several areas.
Our customers are typically under heavy pressure in terms of prices and competition. With GF AgieCharmilles, they can rely on being able to acquire a wide range of technologically advanced machines, efficient automation solutions and comprehensive service provision, enabling them to benefit from commercially attractive applications. The bottom line is that higher productivity over the entire lifetime of a machine results in greater added value for our customers.

Electrical Discharge Machining is a non-contact machining method that removes metal using electrical sparks generated at regular intervals to create a succession of craters in a workpiece. Any material that conducts electricity (metals, alloys, carbides, graphite) is suitable for EDM. As long as the diameter of a hair, the electrical discharge creates carefully targeted, highly precise recesses in metal regulated by highly developed electronic and mechanical systems. Depending on the intensity, frequency, duration, length and polarity of the discharges, the results are very varied. Each EDM spark produces a temperature between 8,000 and 12,000° C. The size of the crater depends on the controlled energy turned out by the spark generator. The range of the sparks varies from a few microns to 1 mm and material removal rates range from 1 to several thousand cubic millimeters per minute.

High Speed Milling is used to machine complex three-dimensional surfaces. High power, high torque spindles are a must. In terms of cutting speed, HSM centers are 10 times faster than conventional milling machines. Greater accuracy and a better surface finish are also achieved. This means that even tempered materials can be machined to a condition in which they are largely ready to use. High Speed Milling in particular is suitable when it comes to the removal of large volumes of material or the machining of difficult to cut materials. Mold and tool making, as well as the production of high-value parts are common applications.
